Isabel Brown grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. She studied throughout high school at Cranbrook Academy of Art with her mentor, Glen Michaels, and her mother, a painter. She attended Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with honors. After a year spent in Rome, Italy, Isabel went to New York where she worked in the art department of Vogue Magazine. She was also a busy freelance illustrator for magazines and textbooks. Her childrens' books include "Bungling Pedro and Other Majorcan Tales", by Alexander Mehdevi (Knopf 1970) and "The Magic Hill" by A A Milne (Dutton 2000).

Isabel currently resides near the Pacific Ocean in California where she is always inspired.
